Artist statement: While investigating the properties of the way humans sense gravity, I studied how neuroscientists have shown we have a preference for the vertical in our environment. We look to the horizon to fix our vertical orientation and are even drawn to more upright artworks. The images were taken during a trip to Iceland and the fluorescent red paint stroke was hand painted.
